## Synopsis

Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie (2022) is a Japanese anime romantic comedy series created as a Doga Kobo production and based on a manga. Its protagonist is Izumi (voiced by Shuichiro Umeda), an ordinary high school boy whose girlfriend Miyako Shikimori (voiced by Saori Onishi) seems like the perfect partner: cute, fun to be around, and sweet when she wants to be. Beneath that image she has a cool, mischievous dark side that surfaces under the right circumstances, and Izumi loves being around when it does. Each of the twelve short episodes is a slice of life built from everyday school moments, friendship, and the small escalations of a young couple's relationship, with the comedy drawn from her playful teasing and his delighted reactions. The series is a single season that runs about twenty-three minutes per episode and has a light, breezy, affectionate register rather than heavy drama. Its setting is a present-day Japanese high school, and its tone recalls the teasing couple comedy of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and the school romance warmth of Horimiya. Fans of gentle romcoms and easy anime watching will find it a comfortable, charming pick.
