## Synopsis

The Baby (2022) is a British-American horror comedy miniseries created by Sian Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer for HBO. Michelle de Swarte plays Natasha, a thirty-eight-year-old who has built her life around doing exactly what she wants when she wants, until she is unexpectedly saddled with a baby. The infant is controlling, manipulative and possessed of violent powers, and every episode turns her domestic life into a tense, grotesque horror show. Amira Ghazalla appears as Mrs. Eaves, with Amber Grappy, Sinéad Cusack and Patrice Naiambana among the supporting cast. The engine of the series is Natasha's scramble for answers: where the child comes from, what it wants, and how far she will go to reclaim her life. Running eight half-hour episodes, it is a single continuing story with an absurdist edge, mixing sharp satire of modern womanhood with unsettling scares. Its tone is darkly comic and abrasive, playing menace against deadpan humour. Fans of Mum, Fleabag and The Good Boys will find resonance in its blend of bleak comedy and domestic dread.
