## Synopsis

Lo Que La Gente Cuenta (2005-present) is a Mexican horror anthology series created by Alejandro Rodriguez for Azteca Uno. Each episode dramatizes a horror or suspense story presented as based on real events, with the names of the people involved changed and some details altered for broadcast. Rodriguez appears throughout the run, and Sebasti Eng plays Mambo in the largest share of episodes, while Brisa Meza as Verónica and Javier Díaz Dueñas as Jorge appear in smaller roles. The engine of each story is ordinary people who stumble into something unexplained or criminal and cannot leave it alone, so the dread builds from small wrongs into something unavoidable. The show spans eight seasons and more than one hundred episodes, with the seasons standing on their own rather than forming one continuing plot. Its setting is contemporary Mexico, and its tone is unsettling, grim and tense rather than playful. Fans of Historias de la Mansión, Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Tales from the Crypt will find similar resonance in the creeping dread and self-contained tales.
