## Synopsis

Blue Period (2021) is a Japanese anime slice of life series created for MBS and TBS, adapted from the manga by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. Popular high school student Yatora Yaguchi (voiced by Hiromu Mineta) feels hollow despite his easy success, until a single painting pulls him into the beautiful yet unrelenting world of art. His engine is a driven hunger to prove that he can build something of his own, and the obstacles are his own inexperience and the sharp talent of classmates who have trained for years. Yumiri Hanamori voices Ryuji Ayukawa, a fellow student whose intensity sets a benchmark Yatora must chase. Each episode is built from sketching sessions, critiques, entrance preparation and quiet studio moments, all set in a contemporary Tokyo high school and art circle. The single twelve-episode season is a serialized coming of age story with a steady emotional arc. Its tone is earnest, wistful and quietly intense, with rivalry and friendship running alongside self discovery. Fans of Chihayafuru, Nodame Cantabile and Your Lie in April will find real resonance here.
