## Synopsis

The Detective Is Already Dead (2021-2026) is a Japanese anime mystery series produced by ENGI and KADOKAWA, adapted from a light novel and broadcast on AT-X. Kimihiko Kimizuka (voiced by Arata Nagai) once lived a life of globe-trotting crime-solving alongside the silver-haired detective Siesta (voiced by Saki Miyashita), after the two thwarted a hijacking together. Siesta has since died, and the first season picks up with Kimihiko navigating a life that now runs without her. Supporting characters including Nagisa Natsunagi (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu), Yui Saikawa (voiced by Kanon Takao) and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson (voiced by Saho Shirasu) help drive investigations that thread murder, conspiracy and hidden organizations through a series of standalone cases with a serialized undercurrent. The show spans two seasons and twenty-five episodes, and its central engine is the pull between Kimihiko's grief and the dangerous puzzles he keeps being drawn into. Its tone mixes breezy banter with tense, sometimes violent action, and its atmosphere is one of wistful loss in a glossy, international setting. Fans of Case Closed, Durarara!! and Cowboy Bebop will find resonance in its blend of detective procedure, stylish danger and quiet melancholy.
