## Synopsis

The New Adventures of Batman (1977) is a American animated superhero series created for CBS, produced by Filmation Associates in the bright, juvenile style of 1970s Saturday morning television. Adam West voices Batman and Burt Ward voices Robin, the Dynamic Duo who patrol Gotham City and face the classic rogues gallery of the comic books alongside a few original villains. Lennie Weinrib voices Commissioner Gordon along with the Joker and the Penguin, while Lou Scheimer voices Bat-Mite, a well meaning imp from another dimension who considers himself Batman's biggest fan and keeps inserting himself into the crime-fighting. Each of its sixteen half-hour episodes is a self-contained case-of-the-week: a villain schemes, the heroes investigate and chase, and a tidy resolution arrives before the credits. The engine is simple and cheerful, built on comic-book action, gadgets, and gentle banter rather than real danger. The tone is earnest and campy, wholesome and breezy, with a deliberately goofy sense of heroism. Fans of Batman: The Animated Series, the 1966 live-action Batman, and Super Friends will find familiar comfort here, though this single season offers a lighter, more childlike take on the character.
