## Synopsis

Here Come the Brides (1968-1970) is an American comedy Western series from Screen Gems that aired on ABC across two seasons and 52 episodes. Loosely based on the Mercer Girls, the historical effort to import marriageable women from the east coast to frontier Seattle, the show follows the Bolt brothers, lumber men played by Robert Brown as Jason Bolt, Bobby Sherman as Jeremy Bolt and David Soul as Joshua Bolt. Their rough logging camp life is disrupted when eastern brides arrive, including Bridget Hanley as Candace Pruitt, while Joan Blondell as Lottie Hatfield brings a sharp-tongued presence to the town. Each hour-long episode leans on mismatched courtship, comic misunderstandings and the friction between rugged loggers and genteel newcomers. Mark Lenard as Aaron Stempel and Henry Beckman as Captain Clancey add rival and authority figures to the mix. The tone is breezy and cozy, with a nostalgic sheen on the 1860s frontier, and the show sits comfortably beside the frontier sitcoms and light romantic westerns of its day. Fans of Bonanza, F Troop and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman will find familiar comic pleasures here, delivered as a gentle family-friendly network romp set against the Civil War era's aftermath in the Pacific Northwest.
