## Synopsis

Skull Island (2023) is an American adult animated action adventure series created by Brian Duffield for Netflix, part of the monsterverse franchise. Shipwrecked explorers in the South Pacific, including Annie (voiced by Mae Whitman), Charlie (voiced by Nicolas Cantu) and Mike (voiced by Darren Barnet), are stranded on an island crowded with fearsome creatures and must find a way to survive. Their struggle against hostile beasts and a rival band of mercenaries drives each episode, with the island's giant ape Kong looming as its sovereign ruler. The eight-episode series runs about 23 minutes per episode and was canceled after its single season, so its story stops before the castaways fully escape the danger. The tone is brisk, violent and spectacle-driven, with a creature-feature pulse of tension, awe and grim survival. Set on a mysterious prehistoric-feeling island, it offers creature action with the scale of a blockbuster. Fans of Kong: Skull Island, Primal and Castlevania will find resonance in its animated monster mayhem and survival stakes.
