## Synopsis

Teachers (2001-2004) is a British Channel 4 workplace comedy created by Tim Loane and produced by Tiger Aspect. Set in an English high school, it follows a group of underqualified staff members whose personal lives repeatedly collide with their classroom duties. Navin Chowdhry plays Kurt, Andrew Lincoln plays Simon, Tamzin Malleson plays Penny, Adrian Bower plays Brian and Ellen Thomas plays Liz, while Ursula Holden-Gill plays Carol and Gillian Bevan plays Clare. The engine of the show is the gap between their official authority and their chaotic romances, rivalries and friendships, which tend to play out over drinks in the pub after the bell rings. Each episode is a loose sequence of mishaps, misunderstandings and awkward encounters among colleagues who are constantly trying to cover for one another. Across four seasons and forty episodes, the series grows out of the same ensemble rather than a single plot, giving it a scattered, episodic shape. The tone is raucous, self-deprecating and warmly cynical, with a British sitcom sensibility. Fans of The Office, Men Behaving Badly and Spaced will find similar cringe humour and messy adult camaraderie here.
