## Synopsis

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest (2022) is a Japanese animated fantasy series produced by J.C.STAFF and broadcast on TOKYO MX and BS11, a one-season miniseries of twelve 24-minute episodes adapted from a light novel. Mathias, the most powerful sage of his world, is reincarnated as a young boy and discovers he has been born with the optimal crest for magical combat. The engine of the series is his eagerness to prove a skeptical society wrong, as a world with low standards for magic marks him for failure from the start. Each episode is built around his clashes with doubters, training and magical duels that show off his growing power, and the school-life settings that come with a magic academy. The tone is upbeat and playful, a shonen-style power fantasy where triumph is the pleasure rather than danger. Its magic school setting, reincarnation premise and light comedy place it in the company of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and The Rising of the Shield Hero, and fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime will find a similar cheerful tone. The fantasy world is an invented one with no fixed calendar, so the story is set in a timeless fantasy realm.
