## Synopsis

Planet Earth (2006) is a British nature documentary miniseries created for BBC One, presented by David Attenborough, who narrates as the on-screen guide through the natural world. Across eleven episodes of roughly fifty-one minutes each, the series follows no single protagonist; instead, its engine is the patient pursuit of animal behavior and landscape, with crews waiting for weeks to capture a predator's hunt, a migration, or a rare mating display. Each episode is organized around a theme such as deserts, mountains, caves, or the poles, so the viewer moves from one habitat to the next as a single continuous survey. The series was filmed over four years across sixty-four countries, and that scale shows in its imagery: aerial sweeps of wild terrain alternate with intimate close-ups of insects, big cats, and seabirds. Its tone is wonder-filled and reflective, with Attenborough's measured narration giving the footage a calm, warm, almost meditative pull. Viewers looking for a soothing, awe-inspiring documentary in the tradition of the BBC natural history series, a show to watch together with family, will find it a landmark of the form. Fans of Blue Planet, Our Planet and The Blue Planet II will find the same blend of beauty and natural history here.
