## Synopsis

Amend: The Fight for America (2021) is a US documentary miniseries created by Tom Yellin and Robe Imbriano for Netflix. Hosted by Will Smith, the six-episode series uses the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution as its lens, following the long and often lethal fight for equal rights across American history. Smith guides viewers through archival footage and interviews with experts and advocates, including Bryan Stevenson, Martha S. Jones, and Mahershala Ali, who appear across the episodes. Rather than a single dramatic protagonist, the series builds its case through accumulated testimony, legal milestones, and the human cost of segregation, immigration battles, and the fight over marriage equality. Its tone is sober, serious, and urgent, with a deliberate focus on how past injustices still shape present politics. Episodes proceed chronologically and by theme, so each installment deepens the argument about who the Constitution has protected and who it has excluded. The single season runs under an hour per episode and suits viewers drawn to civil rights history, political documentaries, and critically engaged public history. Fans of 13th, Eyes on the Prize, and The Central Park Five will find resonance in its blend of archival evidence, expert commentary, and moral urgency about racial justice and American law.
