Audiences rate the miniseries negatively, with reviews finding its gangland found-footage concept undermined by a fantastical, unconvincing portrayal of the French banlieue.

## Synopsis

Dealer (2021) is a French found-footage crime miniseries created by Ange Basterga and Nicolas Lopez for Netflix. Two filmmakers, drawn into a rapper's music video shoot, enter an area ruled by gangs, and the camera captures what they see as the shoot tangles with drug trafficking and rival crews. Abdramane Diakité plays Tony, Mohamed Boudouh plays Moussa and Sébastien Houbani plays Franck, and their characters' loyalties and fears drive the escalating standoffs. The ten short episodes are built around the handheld footage itself, so every scene feels raw and immediate rather than staged. The series is a single-season limited run with a tense, gritty tone, a documentary-like texture and a grounded sense of danger that never lets up. Fans of Narcos, Chronicle and Les Misérables will find resonance in its street-level crime, its unvarnished violence and its restless camera work.
