## Synopsis

The Pursuit of Love (2021) is a British period romance miniseries created by Emily Mortimer for BBC One, adapted from the novel by Nancy Mitford. Lily James plays Linda Radlett, a headstrong young woman who is longing for love and fixated on finding the perfect lover, despite the romantic disappointments she keeps encountering. Her cousin Fanny Logan (Emily Beecham) narrates and observes the chaos, while Andrew Scott plays Lord Merlin, one of the suitors who tests Linda's hopes. Dominic West appears as the eccentric Uncle Matthew, and Emily Mortimer plays the Bolter, adding to the family's unruly glamour. The engine of the story is Linda's restless search for romance, driven by impulsive choices and a stream of unsuitable men across three hour-long episodes. Set in the interwar years among English country houses and European resorts, the series is witty, sardonic, and warmly romantic, with a touch of melancholy beneath its comedy of manners. Its breezy, heightened tone and lush period styling make it a satisfying pick for viewers who enjoy Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, or Pride and Prejudice. Fans of literary period romance will find this an easy and charming watch.
