## Synopsis

Word of Honor (2021) is a Chinese wuxia series created by Priest and broadcast on Youku, a single-season run of 36 episodes. Zhang Zhehan plays Zhou Zishu, a disillusioned leader of assassins who sets out into the martial arts world, and Gong Jun plays Wen Kexing, the bosom friend he encounters there. Zhou Ye, Ma Wenyuan, Sun Xilun and Chen Zihan fill out a cast of rival sects, schemers and mysterious figures. The engine is simple and gripping: a man who has given up on loyalty must navigate sword duels, sect rivalries and a conspiracy whose threads keep tightening around him and his friend. Each episode moves through mountain sword fights, court intrigue and tense confrontations, building toward a larger hidden design. Adapted from a web novel and produced in the danmei tradition, the series has a costume drama look and a playful, wistful register that turns heavier as the past surfaces. Fans of The Legend of the Condor Heroes and Eternal Love will find resonance in its jianghu world, its swordplay and its devoted male friendship at the heart of the intrigue.
