## Synopsis

Attenborough's Life in Colour (2021) is a British nature documentary miniseries created for BBC One, presented by David Attenborough across two episodes of roughly an hour each. Rather than cataloguing animals in general, the programme follows one question through its runtime: what role does colour play in the daily lives of many species, and how do animals perceive a world that humans see differently. Attenborough acts as the guide, moving from field locations to close observation, with the engine of each episode being the puzzle of how a creature's pigments, patterns and sensitivity to light help it find food, attract a mate, or avoid becoming a meal. The approach is that of a science documentary, built on concrete examples and clear explanation rather than dramatic narrative. The tone is curious, warm and wondrous, with a steady sense of discovery that suits family viewing. Its scale is small and contained, a short run that offers a focused introduction to sensory science. Fans of Planet Earth II, Life on Earth and Our Planet will find the same blend of natural history spectacle and scientific clarity, with Attenborough's narration as the constant thread.
