## Synopsis

Nevenka, Breaking the Silence (2021) is a Spanish documentary miniseries created by Maribel Sanchez-Maroto and released on Netflix. Across three episodes of roughly forty-one minutes each, Nevenka Fernandez, the woman at the center of the case, returns to the story of the first sexual harassment case in Spain, a scandal that unfolded in public and tested how institutions responded to a complaint against a powerful man. The series is built around her own account, weighed against the institutional fallout that followed, so the engine is her persistence in speaking when silence was the expected outcome. Each episode moves through testimony, recollection, and the wider context of how the complaint was received, giving the scandal concrete shape rather than abstraction. Its shape is a single, contained limited run with no continuing fiction, framed as a true events documentary. The tone is sober, measured, and emotionally weighty, with a clear focus on accountability and dignity. Viewers drawn to social justice stories will find resonance alongside true crime investigations and survivor-led documentaries such as Leaving Neverland and Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God. Its emphasis on power, gender, and public reckoning gives it a reflective pull for anyone interested in how scandals reshape a society.
