## Synopsis

Marnow Murders (2021-2024) is a German crime series created for Das Erste, a German public broadcaster, and shaped by the national crime television tradition. Set in Schwerin during the hottest summer in years, the series follows detectives Lona Mendt (Petra Schmidt-Schaller) and Frank Elling (Sascha Alexander Geršak) as they hunt a serial murderer whose victims appear to be chosen at random. Their investigation keeps running into powerful figures determined to keep the truth buried, and the pressure grows as Frank, a devoted husband and father, and the aloof Lona push deeper. Bernd Peters (Jörg Schüttauf), Sören Jasper (Anton Rubtsov) and Dr. Iris Fichte (Victoria Trauttmansdorff) add further layers to the investigation. The series spans two seasons across fourteen episodes, each about forty five minutes long, and it plays as one continuing story rather than a case of the week. The heat, the dread and the moral compromises build a tense, claustrophobic mood. Fans of Tatort, The Killing and Broadchurch will find resonance in its procedural rhythm and its slow burn unease.
