Rabbits
Rabbits presents a disconcerting and darkly humorous exploration of existential ennui framed within the mundane routines of seemingly ordinary humanoid rabbits. The film’s unsettling atmosphere stems not from jump scares, but from its deliberate pacing, repetitive actions – ironing, sitting, entering and exiting – and the unnerving disconnect between these banal activities and the underlying sense of profound isolation and unplaceable dread. Occasional, melancholic musical interludes punctuate the unsettling silence, offering fleeting glimpses into the characters' internal states without offering explanation. The infrequent appearances of a distant “leader” amplify the mystery and fuel a creeping sense of surveillance, leaving viewers grappling with questions of control, purpose, and the nature of reality itself. It's a deliberately fragmented and ambiguous work that eschews traditional horror tropes for a uniquely disturbing, almost hypnotic experience.
