What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Kevin Hart plays a fictionalized version of himself pursuing action-star status.
Hart enrolls in Ron Wilcox's action-hero school, with the film foregrounding staged action scenarios and film-making conventions.
The plot combines martial arts, explosions, action-star training, and parody of action-film expectations.
The humor repeatedly derives from Kevin Hart's recognizable comic identity confronting a death-defying action fantasy.
