What critics said
Critics broadly found the film competently performed and occasionally clever but shallow, unevenly edited, and unable to refresh an exhausted slasher franchise.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprise legacy roles alongside a new friend group led by Ava and Danica.
The stalker knows about a gruesome incident from the friends' past and uses that knowledge to terrorize them.
The film's keywords identify a fisherman and harpoon as central elements of its serial-killer threat.
The production combines a modern cast and studio polish with a conventional stalker-slasher premise.
