What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film frames Martha's terminal illness and proposed death with both emotional gravity and strangely sweet, occasionally comic exchanges.
Former magazine colleagues Ingrid and Martha reconnect and grow inter-reliant while confronting Martha's cancer and impending death.
Martha's response to failed experimental treatment turns the plot toward euthanasia, autonomy, and the ethics of assisted death.
Ingrid and Martha withdraw to a quiet residence in Woodstock, where their confidences and end-of-life decisions unfold.
