Critics found the remake intermittently funny and praised Elizabeth Hurley’s performance, but broadly viewed it as an erratic, one-joke version lacking the wickedness and focus of the original.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Elliot exchanges his soul for seven wishes, with the Devil manipulating the terms of every fantasy.
The wishes transform Elliot into figures including a basketball star, wealthy power broker, and sensitive romantic ideal.
Elizabeth Hurley’s Devil presents the soul-selling bargain with glamorous, flirtatious, and mischievous authority.
Elliot uses supernatural transformations to pursue Alison, but each perfected persona undermines the relationship he wants.
