What critics said
Critics found charm, blood, performances, and a sincere Christmas emotional core, but broadly agreed that the high-concept slasher comedy was uneven, predictable, and short on genuine scares.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film turns Christmas movie tropes and holiday iconography into blood-spattered slasher set pieces.
Winnie wishes she had never been born and awakens in a nightmare parallel universe where her absence changes the town.
The premise and marketing explicitly combine slasher conventions with the premise of a classic Christmas alternate-life story.
Winnie's altered reality is triggered by the aftermath of saving her town and the death of her best friend.
