What critics said
Critics broadly found the film an unfocused, lethargic science fiction comedy whose scattered gags and uninspired performances failed to make the adventure imaginative.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film turns time travel, dinosaurs, alien technology, and apocalyptic stakes into broad comic set pieces.
Rick Marshall seeks to restore his reputation as a paleontologist while trying to escape the alternate world.
Rick, Holly, and Will are stranded among dinosaurs and lizard people in a strange world reached through a vortex.
Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, and Jorma Taccone play the adventure as an intentionally silly collision of danger and absurdity.
