Critics broadly found the legacy sequel charming, funny, and warmly performed despite familiar logic and storytelling weaknesses.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film returns to Tess and Anna 22 years after their original identity crisis and extends the body-exchange concept to a new generation.
Tess, Anna, Harper, and Lily become involved in a new lightning-triggered body-swapping crisis across two generations.
Anna faces the challenges of merging her family with her soon-to-be stepdaughter’s family, including conflict between Harper and Lily.
The returning leads, new younger characters, and critics’ emphasis on charm, warmth, and strengthened bonds define the film’s revivalist appeal.
