What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Sobolev's police status enables him and others to conceal a fatal traffic crime and manipulate its aftermath.
The initial decision to conceal the boy's death forces successive characters to cross increasingly consequential ethical boundaries.
The film frames roads, police facilities, homes, and public institutions as harsh, compromised environments rather than safe civic spaces.
The central cover-up depends on Sobolev's police position and the cooperation or coercion of other officials.
