What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ryan and Justin gain social power by pretending to be police officers despite having no official authority.
The central pair's friendship drives their decision to continue posing as officers after becoming entangled with criminals and corrupt detectives.
The costume-party deception escalates into robbery, kidnapping, murder, mobsters, and dirty detectives while retaining a broad comic register.
The plot contrasts neighborhood admiration for fake officers with corruption inside the real police world.
