What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The investigation moves from a respected political disappearance into hidden abuse and malice beneath Scandinavian respectability.
Carl and Assad pursue the five-year-old case while Merete Lynggaard's disappearance and ordeal form a parallel strand.
Chief detective Carl Mørck works with his assistant Assad while confronting the institutional and personal pressures surrounding the case.
Merete's disappearance is tied to abuse, captivity, and sustained menace rather than a conventional public manhunt alone.
