May contain story progression spoilers
Azur travels to Asmar's homeland, where the quest unfolds amid culturally specific markets, palaces, landscapes, and fairy-tale traditions.
The film uses vivid, patterned environments and highly stylized computer animation to render its magical kingdom and mythical quest.
Azur and Asmar grow up as brothers, become rivals as adults, and pursue the same Djinn-fairy while their relationship remains central.
Azur is haunted by memories of the Djinn-fairy and journeys to Asmar's homeland to seek her, while Asmar shares the same objective.
