What critics said
Critics found Big Eden unrealistic but broadly charming, sweet, and appealing as an unapologetically utopian queer romance.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Big Eden residents conspire to bring Henry and Pike together, creating an unusually affirmative vision of small-town acceptance.
Henry must move beyond his idealized longing for Dean and notice Pike's quiet affection and care.
The fictional Montana town is portrayed as an idyllic timber-and-cowboy community with deliberately gentle social dynamics.
Pike Dexter is a Native American general-store owner whose relationship with Henry forms the film's central romance.
