What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The young patient insists he is the legendary Don Juan, leaving Dr. Mickler and the audience to question whether the claim is delusion, performance, or truth.
Jack's care of the young man revives his own passionless marriage and challenges his professional assumptions about sanity and wellbeing.
The patient's philosophies of love and his exotic stories draw the psychiatric staff into an atmosphere of passion, pleasure, and emotional possibility.
The film presents the patient's Don Juan identity and recounted adventures without fully resolving how literally they should be understood.
