What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ramón Sampedro's 30-year campaign for the right to end his life provides the film's central narrative.
Ramón's wish to die with dignity conflicts with legal, religious, familial, and emotional arguments for continued life.
Ramón's paraplegia and wheelchair-bound existence are set against Galicia's open maritime landscape and his memories of the sea.
Ramón's relationships with Julia and Rosa inspire both women to pursue possibilities they had not previously imagined.
