What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Nelson agrees to spend only the month of November living with Sara, making the relationship's duration central to its emotional design.
Sara's illness and the film's focus on non-Hodgkin lymphoma place mortality beneath the romantic relationship.
Sara invites Nelson, a stranger with a girlfriend, to move into her home for a month under unusual personal rules.
The story uses contemporary San Francisco and a heightened Hollywood romance aesthetic to frame Nelson and Sara's affair.
