What critics said
Critics broadly found the film a competently staged but highly conventional slasher, with appealing characterization and gore offset by a slow middle and cookie-cutter script.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film follows familiar stalking, pursuit, survivor, and kill-sequence conventions while deliberately playing them relatively straight.
The late-night city morgue, cold sub-basement, surgical equipment, hooks, knives, and power saws shape the horror action.
Jacob Goodnight is introduced as a one-eyed corpse and returns as the central visual and physical threat.
The rampage emphasizes hooks, surgical knives, power saws, and visually compelling death scenes as primary entertainment.
