What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film presents adolescent relationships and generational identity through French teenagers in Paris, with a French view of their London excursion.
Lola dumps her unfaithful boyfriend and flirts with his best friend as punishment, creating the central romantic complication.
The film was received in France as a depiction of its generation of young people, much like earlier youth films of the 1980s and 1990s.
The London trip portrays Britain through exaggerated French expectations of rain, food, provincial streets, and local residents.
