What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Neil owns a video store and interprets ordinary life through film noir, while his relationship with Violet makes that boundary increasingly unstable.
Neil must choose between retreating into his familiar couch-bound life and embracing Violet's unpredictable world.
Neil's self-conception and expectations are formed by favorite noir films and their archetypes.
The plot explicitly blurs the line between Neil's everyday reality and the film-noir scenarios he idealizes.
