What critics said
Critics broadly found the remake polished and visually effective but undermined by a weak, unoriginal script and a comparatively bland treatment of its premise.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Freddy Krueger stalks Nancy, Quentin, and their peers inside nightmares that threaten consequences after awakening.
The young characters uncover their parents’ denial surrounding Freddy’s past and his death.
The 2010 production emphasizes Freddy’s burn-victim appearance, child-abuse implications, and a grim atmosphere.
Bedrooms, school spaces, and the boiler room become distorted environments where dream logic produces real peril.
