Barry's rude, embarrassing conduct drives the friends' matchmaking scheme and most of the film's humor.
Barry's relationship with Melanie complicates the friends' plan because she mirrors his inappropriate behavior.
Desmond, Rafe, and the others plot to find Barry a wife in order to remove him from their social lives.
