What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Josh has spent eight years unable to finish his documentary while Jamie's youthful ambition challenges his sense of authority as a filmmaker.
Josh and Cornelia are drawn to Jamie and Darby's apparent freedom, sophistication, and cultural energy, while gradually confronting the values beneath that image.
Josh and Cornelia's inability to have children contributes to their emotional distance and intensifies their anxiety about aging.
The film places its stalled middle-aged couple among New York filmmakers and a younger, seemingly cooler pair, producing both zany comedy and pointed social unease.
