What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Jessica identifies an injured reindeer as Prancer and acts on her conviction that she can return him to Santa.
Jessica is the daughter of an impoverished farmer, and her father considers selling the reindeer for commercial use.
The Santa Claus premise unfolds through a farm, barn, small town, veterinarian, and family disagreements rather than an entirely fantastical world.
Jessica hides the reindeer, feeds him, and plans how to keep him from being sold.
