What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Chief Wyatt Rash investigates Mona Dearly's death while almost every resident has a plausible motive or compromising connection.
Mona's spiteful behavior and the town's dysfunctional relationships make hostility itself a recurring comic engine.
The upstate New York community is depicted as an eccentric, tightly connected town whose residents object to its insulting portrayal.
The investigation uses flashbacks and shifting, potentially unreliable perspectives to reconstruct Mona's death.
