What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ray builds the field after hearing a mysterious voice, and Shoeless Joe Jackson and the banned 1919 players emerge from it.
The film treats baseball, the White Sox scandal, and the field as vessels for regret and American ideals.
The Iowa farm's cornfield conceals the baseball diamond where ghosts appear and the central mystery unfolds.
The repeated message to build the field directs Ray's construction, investigation, and journey to Terrence Mann.
