What critics said
Critics broadly found the sequel watchable for Jason Statham's charisma and elaborate action set pieces, but undermined by a formulaic, implausible, and meandering script.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Arthur Bishop must perform three elaborate jobs after his enemies threaten Gina and the children in her care.
The plot moves through Rio, Thailand, Cambodia, and other international settings while foregrounding elaborate set pieces.
Bishop's growing closeness to Gina transforms an imposed series of killings into a personal rescue mission.
Critics and the film's structure emphasize Bond-like international missions, advanced expertise, and extravagant action scenarios.
