What critics said
Critics broadly praised the short mockumentary for its committed performances, rapid-fire absurdity, and sharp sports-media parody.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film is presented as a documentary about an absurd seven-day Wimbledon match, with interviews and Jon Hamm's narration reinforcing the false factual frame.
Aaron Williams and Charles Poole's tennis rivalry is treated as legendary history, far beyond the scale of an ordinary first-round match.
The central match lasts seven days, turning the normal structure of professional tennis into an escalating comic premise.
The invented rivalry is situated around Wimbledon 2001 and filtered through the conventions of televised sports documentaries.
