What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Morgan moves from Connecticut yacht-club privilege into a San Fernando Valley apartment after his father's company collapses.
Morgan pursues Frankie despite her relationship with gang leader Nick, whose possessiveness drives the central conflict.
The film combines high-school life, dance culture, gang posturing, romance, and action in a distinctly mid-1980s register.
Morgan's attraction to Frankie openly challenges Nick's authority and makes their relationship a catalyst for escalating threats.
