What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Jigsaw's games force Jeff to decide whether people connected to his son's death deserve rescue or punishment.
Jeff's tests and Lynn's effort to keep Jigsaw alive unfold as parallel, mutually dependent ordeals.
Lynn is a surgeon tasked with preserving Jigsaw's life while the film foregrounds brain illness, surgery, suffocation, and mutilation.
Jeff's obsession with avenging his dead son governs his treatment of the drunk driver, judge, and reluctant witness.
