What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
King Kong and Albert Au repeatedly collide through bumbling police work, pursuit sequences, motorcycles, and gadget-based set pieces.
The self-serving burglar King Kong must work alongside the inept detective Albert Au to recover the stolen diamonds.
King Kong is explicitly framed as a James Bond-type burglar, while the rare diamonds, European gangster, and gadgets evoke exaggerated espionage formulas.
The Hong Kong police caper uses a Bond-like criminal hero, an Americanized detective persona, and European gangster imagery within Cantonese popular cinema.
