What critics said
Critics broadly praised the film as an exceptionally effective, innovative found-footage horror work that turns uncertainty and imagination into sustained fear.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film is assembled from raw recordings attributed to the missing student filmmakers and framed as surviving evidence.
The Blair Witch remains intangible and visually unconfirmed while the trio experiences increasingly disturbing signs in the forest.
The filmmakers lose their map, become lost, and cannot determine whether their ordeal reflects folklore, human danger, or a supernatural presence.
Heather, Josh, and Mike investigate the Maryland legend of the Blair Witch through interviews and an expedition into the Black Hills Forest.
