What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Cliff and Wendy become nationally consumed celebrities after their hostage ordeal and struggle against relentless media attention.
Cliff begins as someone who claims not to care about anything and remains hostile to the heroic identity imposed on him.
The hostage broadcast, national celebrity, and post-crisis exploitation turn existential disengagement into a public spectacle.
The film’s soundtrack references and countercultural atmosphere connect its disaffected characters to early-1990s grunge culture.
